Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez on Thursday assured commuters that the newly built footbridge at EDSA-Kamuning in Quezon City is accessible to all, including persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and pregnant women.
Speaking at the launch, Lopez highlighted that the project was completed with both quality and inclusivity in mind.
“’Yan po ang utos parati ng Pangulo na bilisan ang mga imprastraktura without sacrificing the quality, and of course within the budget as allowed,” he said.
Transportation Press Officer Jane Deocampo confirmed that the footbridge cost ₱87,326,815.10, slightly below the initial ₱89 million estimate.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., joined by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, Lopez, and Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, attended the inauguration.
The President praised the improved infrastructure, contrasting it with the steep and unpopular “Mount Kamuning” footbridge, and pledged proper maintenance of the new facilities.

Dizon noted that the project is part of the broader EDSA rehabilitation program.
“Kung kukumpara mo sa Mt. Kamuning, talagang napakaginhawa ng pagko-cross nila ngayon at pagpunta sa busway. Umpisa pa lang ito. Kasama na rin ito sa EDSA rehab natin,” he said.

Features of the New Footbridge:
- Wider walkway and platform
- Fare matrix, busway site map, and wayfinder displays
- Two manlifts for wheelchair users
- Two elevators
- Tactile tiles for the visually impaired
- Brighter lighting and modern railings
- Benches and trash bins for commuter convenience
The new structure forms part of the modernization of the EDSA Kamuning Busway Station, aimed at providing safer, more comfortable, and inclusive access for daily commuters.
