WORLDWIDE — A new chapter in the renowned Sword Art Online: Echoes of Aincrad franchise is approaching following its official reveal as an action RPG scheduled for global release on July 10, 2026. Publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment confirmed that the game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC through Steam, with pre orders now available for fans worldwide.
Return to the Floating Castle
Echoes of Aincrad brings players back to the legendary floating fortress of Aincrad, the central world introduced in the original Sword Art Online storyline. Rather than focusing solely on established characters such as Kirito, the upcoming title allows players to create and customize their own protagonist. This design offers a new perspective inside the familiar virtual world while expanding the experience beyond the original narrative.
Players will travel across multiple floors of the castle, confront powerful monsters and bosses, and engage in fast paced combat that emphasizes timing, strategy, and precision.
Action, Companions, and Customization
Echoes of Aincrad introduces dynamic action RPG gameplay where players can equip a wide variety of weapons, develop specialized skills, and shape their character’s attributes according to their preferred play style.
A companion system also plays a major role in the adventure. Players can select an NPC partner who fights alongside them, unlocking new abilities and cooperative techniques as their partnership grows stronger. This two character party system places players directly in the role of a participant trapped within the game’s virtual world.
