President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. administered the oath of office to Sabuddin Abdurahim on Friday at Malacañan Palace, following his reappointment as secretary of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF).
Abdurahim will serve another two-year term leading the agency, the Presidential Communications Office confirmed.
A veteran public servant, Abdurahim previously served three terms in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan from 2016 to 2024, where he chaired committees on Business, Trade and Investment, Infrastructure, and Budget and Appropriations, while also serving as vice chairperson for Health and Education.
Before entering politics, he worked for more than two decades as a medical technologist at the Integrated Provincial Health Office in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi. He was also an accredited Murshid (spiritual guide) in the Zamboanga-Basilan-Sulu-Tawi-Tawi region from 1999 to 2023.
Abdurahim holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and has completed academic requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy in Peace and Development.
The NCMF is mandated to promote the rights, welfare, and cultural heritage of Muslim Filipinos nationwide.
