AFP REMINDS FOREIGN NATIONALS: CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR CAMP FACILITIES

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has reiterated that foreign nationals must secure a visit clearance before accessing military recreational facilities, including golf courses, amid heightened security concerns linked to recent espionage cases involving China.

Officials stressed that the clearance requirement is part of established entry policies for military installations, and visitors must comply with all security protocols.

“Foreign nationals planning to use AFP camp facilities are urged to secure the proper visit clearance in advance and adhere to existing security requirements,” the AFP stated.

The reminder follows reports from the National Security Council (NSC) on the detention of three Filipino nationals accused of espionage activities involving Chinese actors.

The suspects, employed in defense-related agencies, allegedly shared sensitive information—including details on military personnel and resupply missions in the South China Sea—with contacts linked to Chinese intelligence.

These incidents have prompted tighter counterintelligence measures across government agencies. The Philippine National Police (PNP) has also implemented stricter screening and internal monitoring to prevent foreign infiltration.

The AFP emphasized that while current security protocols remain adequate, evolving threats of espionage and foreign interference demand increased vigilance, particularly in areas where civilian access overlaps with military installations.
