Vice President Sara Duterte said she will not yet reveal the identity of her potential running mate for the 2028 elections, citing concerns that the individual could face premature political attacks.
Speaking in Davao City on Saturday, March 14, Duterte disclosed that she had approached someone last year about joining her ticket, but the person has yet to make a decision.
“Antayin na lang natin yung desisyon niya. Huwag na lang natin siya guluhin,” she said.
She added: “Huwag na natin siyang pangalanan kasi baka atakihin siya, sisirain yung pangalan niya.”
Sources suggest possible running mates include Senate Deputy Minority Leader Rodante Marcoleta, Senators Robin Padilla, Imee Marcos, Christopher “Bong” Go, and former President and now-Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Duterte also confirmed that four individuals have approached her about joining a potential Senate slate for 2028.
“Apat lang,” she said, without providing further details on their qualifications.
“Allergic ako sa mga politiko ngayon. So, i-consider lang nila ako,” Duterte remarked, leaving her criteria for senatorial candidates unclear.
