GATCHALIAN FILES RESOLUTION TO REVIEW PROCUREMENT LAW IMPLEMENTATION

Senator Win Gatchalian has filed Senate Resolution No. 336 seeking an investigation into the implementation of the country’s updated government procurement law to ensure stricter oversight and safeguard public funds.

The chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance said the review aims to assess how government agencies are transitioning to the new procurement framework, which was signed into law in July 2024 to strengthen transparency, competition, and accountability in government purchases and contracts.

He added that the system would reinforce accountability in managing public funds, noting that the reforms were introduced amid controversies surrounding infrastructure spending, including flood control projects.

The resolution aims to ensure that government agencies comply with updated safeguards and that taxpayers’ money is spent efficiently and responsibly.
