President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared three local holidays this March to mark festivals and founding anniversaries in different parts of the country.
The proclamations, signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on March 12, were published in the Official Gazette.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” Marcos said in authorizing the special non-working days.
Under Proclamation No. 1190, March 16 was declared a special non-working day in Pura, Tarlac for the Panagyaman Festival. Proclamation No. 1191 designated March 19 in Dingras, Ilocos Norte for the Ani Festival.
Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 1192 declared March 23 in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, in celebration of its 28th charter anniversary.
Malacañang also issued Proclamation No. 1189 declaring March 20 a regular holiday nationwide for Eid’l Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.
The proclamation emphasized the importance of recognizing the religious and cultural significance of the occasion and fostering unity among Filipinos.
“In order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, and to allow the entire Filipino nation to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance of Eid’l Fitr, it is necessary to declare 20 March 2026, Friday, a regular holiday, throughout the country,” the issuance read.
