A recent Pulse Asia Research Inc. survey revealed that fewer than half of Filipino adults approved of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s performance over the past three months, while Vice President Sara Duterte continued to enjoy stronger public support.
The poll found that 36 percent of respondents approved of Marcos’ performance, compared with 55 percent who approved of Duterte’s work.
“Approval for the President’s work is more pronounced than indecision on the matter (36% versus 18%). Conversely, disapproval of the Vice President’s performance is more marked than ambivalence toward it (27% versus 18%),” the survey noted.
Regionally, Marcos received majority approval only in the rest of Luzon at 54 percent, while disapproval was highest in Mindanao (73%) and the Visayas (61%). Duterte, meanwhile, recorded strong approval in Mindanao (95%), the Visayas (72%), and among lower-income groups, with 81 percent support from Class E and 57 percent from Class D.
In Metro Manila, half of respondents approved of Duterte’s performance, while in the rest of Luzon, a plurality of 44 percent expressed disapproval.
On trust ratings, the survey found that 44 percent distrusted Marcos, while 35 percent expressed trust and 21 percent were undecided. Duterte fared better, with 54 percent trust, 26 percent distrust, and 20 percent undecided.
The nationwide survey was conducted from February 27 to March 2 through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults aged 18 and above. It has a ±2.8 percent margin of error at the 95 percent confidence level.
