One Battle After Another emerged as the biggest winner at the 98th Academy Awards, taking home six Oscars including Best Picture and marking a major milestone for director Paul Thomas Anderson.
Anderson secured his first-ever Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, adding to the film’s haul that also included Best Editing, Best Casting, and Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn.
Another standout was Sinners by Ryan Coogler, which won four awards. Michael B. Jordan claimed Best Actor for his dual performance, while Autumn Durald Arkapaw made history as the first woman to win Best Cinematography. The film also earned Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Score.
Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for Hamnet, while Amy Madigan took home Best Supporting Actress for Weapons.
Meanwhile, KPop Demon Hunters captured Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, appealing strongly to younger audiences.
A rare Oscars moment occurred in the Best Live Action Short Film category, where The Singers and Two People Exchanging Saliva were declared joint winners—only the seventh tie ever recorded in Academy Awards history.
