PAGASA DECLARES END OF AMIHAN, WARM AND DRY SEASON BEGINS

The northeast monsoon, or amihan, has officially ended, ushering in the country’s warm and dry season, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced Monday.

The shift signals rising temperatures and longer sunny periods nationwide, gradually replacing the cool “ber months” breeze that had brought Baguio-like weather in recent weeks.

While isolated thunderstorms may still occur due to localized conditions, PAGASA noted that no low pressure areas were detected within or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility in its 8 a.m. bulletin.

With heat levels expected to climb, the public is advised to take precautions against heat stress by staying hydrated and avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

PAGASA also reminded households to practice responsible water use, stressing the importance of efficient consumption as demand typically increases during the dry season.
