PNP TO DEPLOY NEARLY 60,000 PERSONNEL FOR HOLY WEEK 2026

The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced Monday that nearly 60,000 personnel will be deployed nationwide to secure the public during Holy Week under its “Ligtas Semana Santa 2026” operations plan.

According to the PNP, a total of 59,416 personnel will be mobilized as millions of Filipinos are expected to travel and join religious activities. The deployment includes 39,450 police officers, 5,185 augmentation forces, and 14,691 members from partner advocacy groups assisting in safety efforts.

Authorities said security measures will concentrate on 3,277 tourist destinations across the country, with heightened police visibility in transport hubs and major pilgrimage sites.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., during Monday’s flag ceremony, instructed unit commanders to “maximize police presence,” emphasizing early preparations, operational plan reviews, checkpoint positioning, and assistance desks in terminals.

However, it noted that travel volume may slightly decline this year due to rising oil prices.

Despite the large-scale mobilization, the PNP reported no specific security threats so far.
