TIANGCO DENIES CONTACT WITH VP SARA’S CAMP AMID FLOOD CONTROL CONTROVERSY

Navotas City Lone District Representative Toby Tiangco has denied suggestions that he is in communication with Vice President Sara Duterte’s camp.

The speculation followed Tiangco’s earlier remark that those implicated in the flood control controversy would likely support Duterte’s impeachment since “1 million percent hindi nila maaareglo.”

In an online interview Monday, Tiangco clarified:

“Wala akong nakaka-usap sa kanila.”

He explained that his earlier statement reflected his view that those involved in the flood control projects see impeachment as inevitable because accountability is unavoidable.

“That is an opinion,” he added. “So kung tinatanong mo ko kung may naka-usap ako siya hindi ko nakaka-usap, kampo nya, mga abugado niya hindi ko nakaka-usap… So wala akong nakaka-usap sa kanila.”

Tiangco emphasized his support for accountability regardless of the officials involved:

“Dapat lahat ng opisyal ay nagtatrabaho para mapanagot yung corrupt.”

He also urged the House of Representatives to fast-track impeachment proceedings so lawmakers can focus on measures that help ordinary Filipinos cope with rising fuel costs.
