Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has confirmed he will testify in the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte.
In a radio interview, Trillanes said he had already been informed by the prosecution of his role in the case and has begun preparing his presentation.
“Tayo po ay nasabihan na, na magiging testigo ako dito sa impeachment. So naghanda na rin ako ng aking presentation,” he said.
He clarified that he would serve as the opening witness, with other individuals expected to support his claims.
“Pero ako lang ang pambungad but eventually iba’t ibang mga testigo ang kukunin to validate or corroborate ang aking mga sasabihin,” he added.
Among the allegations Trillanes plans to present are claims of supposed ill-gotten wealth involving the Vice President and her husband, Mans Carpio, which he alleged could exceed ₱2 billion.
He also accused members of the Duterte family of receiving monthly payouts ranging from ₱40 million to ₱50 million from a Davao City “drug lord” between 2011 and 2013.
According to Trillanes, the alleged beneficiaries included former president Rodrigo Duterte, his children — Sebastian and Paolo Duterte — as well as Honeylet Avanceña and their daughters, Kitty, allegedly coursed through a joint bank account.
As of this writing, Vice President Duterte and her family have yet to issue a response to the accusations.
