PBBM: PH STANDS FOR PEACE, NOT WAR AMID MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday reaffirmed that war is not in line with the Philippines’ national interest, emphasizing that the country’s foreign policy remains anchored on peace.

Asked whether the Philippines supports the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran, Marcos said the government does not want war and admitted it was caught off guard by the rapid escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

“We never want war. Our foreign policy is very very simple—it’s peace and the national interest,” the President said.

Marcos expressed hope that the conflict would be resolved soon, allowing affected nations to begin recovery.

He added that Filipinos continue to wait and pray for an end to the fighting, noting that the crisis has far-reaching consequences not only for the Philippines but also for the global economy.
