Senator Robin Padilla on Wednesday voiced frustration over the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, arguing that lawmakers should be concentrating on the difficulties faced by ordinary Filipinos.
“May impeachment pa rin pala sa gitna ng kinakaharap ng mga Pilipino,” Padilla said, adding, “God help us.”
The House Committee on Justice formally opened its hearings on March 25 to determine probable cause on the complaints filed against Duterte. The Vice President did not attend the session, though she reportedly prepared her legal defense in advance.
Committee chairperson and Batangas 2nd District Representative Gerville Luistro confirmed Duterte’s absence, noting that she opted not to participate in the initial proceedings.
