ABS-CBN TEAMS UP WITH AMAZON MX PLAYER FOR FIRST INDIAN SYNDICATION

ABS-CBN Corporation has struck its first syndication deal in India, partnering with streaming platform Amazon MX Player to bring Filipino drama series to one of the world’s largest OTT markets.

The agreement, finalized by ABS-CBN’s International Sales Division, includes seven titles, among them the Philippine adaptation of It’s Okay to Not Be Okay.

ABS-CBN said the India entry is part of its broader strategy to monetize its content library across South and Southeast Asia, where several of its drama titles are already licensed.

The Lopez-led media company now gains access to MX Player’s 250 million monthly active users, aligning with India’s viewing habits, where 70% to 80% of OTT consumption occurs on free, ad-supported platforms.

Previously known for Chinese, Korean, and Turkish programming, MX Player will now introduce Filipino shows, dubbed in Hindi and potentially other regional languages to reach a wider audience.

This move marks a significant step for ABS-CBN as it expands its international footprint, bringing Filipino storytelling to global viewers in high-demand markets.
