The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) announced Saturday that it has mobilized its public assistance operations to support the nationwide observance of Holy Week, as millions of Filipinos are expected to travel to their home provinces.
In a statement, the agency said the initiative is intended to guarantee “reliable and uninterrupted communications” throughout Holy Week.
NTC regional offices have been instructed to coordinate with local government units, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, civic organizations, and amateur radio groups to strengthen field communications and emergency response.
The agency added:
“To further enhance readiness, the NTC will facilitate the swift issuance of temporary permits and licenses to ensure the seamless operation of communication support teams, especially as millions of Filipinos are expected to travel nationwide.”
It also urged telecommunications and broadcast companies to actively assist in the timely and accurate dissemination of public advisories during the holiday period.
