PNP PLACES FORCE ON HEIGHTENED ALERT FOR HOLY WEEK

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has placed its entire force under heightened alert to ensure public safety during the observance of Holy Week.

PNP Spokesperson Randulf Tuaño said the alert status took effect on Palm Sunday, March 29, and will remain in place until April 6.

Nearly 60,000 police personnel, along with force multipliers, have been deployed nationwide, particularly in high-traffic areas such as transport terminals, churches, and tourist destinations expected to draw large crowds.

PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. directed all units to maintain strong police visibility, establish assistance desks, and coordinate closely with local government units to safeguard the public throughout the period.
