PNP REPORTS DROP IN GAS STATION CLOSURES AMID PETROLEUM SUPPLY IMPROVEMENT

The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Monday that the number of gasoline stations forced to suspend operations nationwide has decreased to 365, down from Friday’s 425.

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño explained during a press briefing at Camp Crame that the closures were mainly due to supply constraints.

“Ang mga pangunahing kadahilanan ay ‘yong non-delivered petroleum products at ‘yong iba naman ay walang stocks,” Tuaño said. “Mayroong mga nagsarado at may nagbukas na naman.”

The figure had previously been recorded at 369 on Sunday, March 29, indicating a gradual improvement in petroleum supply distribution.

However, the number of reported cases of hoarding and profiteering has increased to seven, with three in the Bicol Region, two in Eastern Visayas, and one each in Central Luzon and Davao Region.

The PNP, in coordination with the Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), continues to monitor incidents and enforce measures to stabilize petroleum supply across the country.
