GOV’T AGENCIES READY TO DELIVER SERVICES AMID RISING OIL PRICES, SAYS REMULLA

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla assured the public that government agencies remain fully capable of delivering their mandates despite rising oil prices, particularly during the Holy Week.

Speaking at a multi-agency press briefing on Tuesday, Remulla emphasized that resources are being managed effectively to ensure uninterrupted service.

“Pero I can confidently say… sa lahat ng hanay ng gobyerno, we are well equipped and we are fully stocked and we are ready to deliver our mandate kada ahensya na hawak namin,” he said.

He clarified that certain matters, such as drone procurement plans, fall outside their jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon and Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed them to accelerate major infrastructure projects to ease the burden on citizens amid the global crisis.

Lopez explained that mechanisms are in place to adjust contract prices when material costs rise while ensuring safeguards remain effective.

“Tungkol sa presyo, meron naman tayong mga mekanismo para magtaas ng presyo. At naglabas na kami ng DOTr ng mga department order para hindi mahirapan ‘yung mga ongoing contracts natin… na mag-request ng price increase ‘pag talagang nakita na tumaas ang presyo ng materyales… pero siyempre kailangan may safeguard tayo. Tuloy-tuloy tayo,” Lopez said.

He added that continuity of projects depends on securing fuel supply:

“As long as we can source supply, ibig sabihin, as long we have krudo, merong mga langis para magamit sa ating mga construction, tuloy-tuloy po ‘yan.”

Authorities assured the public that government operations and infrastructure work will continue without disruption, reinforcing efforts to maintain essential services despite external economic pressures.
