The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has reminded public utility vehicle (PUV) operators to screen only films and video content rated “G” (General Patronage) or “PG” (Parental Guidance) as passenger numbers are expected to surge during Holy Week.
In a memorandum dated March 24, the agency directed bus companies, sea vessel operators, and other public transport providers to strictly follow content guidelines when showing movies or trailers during trips.
“The Board reminds all common carrier operators that only motion pictures and/or trailers classified by the Board as for general patronage or ‘G’ and parental guidance or ‘PG’ shall be exhibited inside such common carriers,” the memorandum stated.
The MTRCB explained that “G” content is suitable for all audiences, including children, while “PG” requires parental guidance for certain scenes. The agency said the reminder aims to ensure that passengers—especially families and minors—are protected from inappropriate material while traveling.
The board also assured the public that its monitoring and inspection unit will continue conducting on-ground checks to ensure compliance. Operators who fail to follow the rules may face suspension or cancellation of permits, fines, and other penalties.
