DOTr SUSPENDS LRT-1, LRT-2, MRT-3 SERVICES DURING HOLY WEEK FOR MAINTENANCE

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that operations of the LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 will be suspended from Maundy Thursday until Easter Sunday to allow for annual maintenance work.

Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez confirmed the temporary shutdown during a press briefing at Camp Crame on Tuesday, noting that the pause is part of routine upkeep to ensure safe and reliable service.

While train services will be unavailable, Lopez assured commuters that the EDSA Busway Carousel will remain open 24/7 throughout the Holy Week break. Regular taxis and other public transport options will also continue to operate.

To ease the expected passenger surge, the DOTr said it will issue special permits for provincial buses and extend clearing operations at major transport hubs.

These measures aim to provide alternative travel options for the public during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
