The Department of Transportation (DOTr) – Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) announced on Wednesday, April 1, that it will provide free rides to Filipino veterans from April 6 to 11, in celebration of the 84th Araw ng Kagitingan and the 2026 Philippine Veterans Week.
According to the advisory, eligible passengers can avail of the free rides throughout MRT-3’s operating hours by presenting a Veteran’s ID or any valid ID to station personnel in exchange for a Single Journey Ticket (SJT).
“Maaaring i-avail ang libreng sakay sa buong oras ng operasyon sa pamamagitan ng pagpapakita ng Veteran’s ID o anumang valid ID sa station personnel kapalit ng Single Journey Ticket (SJT),” the MRT-3 management stated.
Each veteran will also be allowed to bring one companion.
“Pinapayagan din ang bawat beterano na magsama ng isang (1) aide o companion,” the announcement added.
The initiative, MRT-3 emphasized, is meant to honor the sacrifices and heroism of Filipino veterans.
“Ang inisyatibong ito ay pagkilala sa sakripisyo at kabayanihan ng ating mga beterano para sa kalayaan ng bansa,” the agency said.
