The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday urged Filipinos to practice water conservation as the country enters the dry season.
PAGASA officially declared the onset of the warm and dry season on March 23, signaling reduced rainfall and higher heat indices nationwide.
In a television interview, PAGASA senior weather specialist Rosalie Pagulayan said that while reservoir levels remain manageable, households should adopt water-saving practices in anticipation of drier months.
“We can contribute to conservation efforts through our own little ways. These small actions can have a significant impact on our overall water resources,” she said.
Pagulayan recommended simple measures such as checking for leaking pipes and turning off faucets when not in use.
“This is not just to reduce water bills, but also to ensure that no water is wasted,” she added.
PAGASA forecasts generally fair weather nationwide, with gradually warmer days and occasional isolated thunderstorms throughout the dry season. Below-normal rainfall is expected in most parts of the country in April.
