President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed all government agencies to actively support the celebration of National Innovation Day 2026, scheduled for April 28–29.
Under Memorandum Circular No. 115, issued by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, government offices are instructed to participate in activities, while local government units and the private sector are encouraged to join the nationwide observance.
National Innovation Day, held every April 21 under Republic Act No. 11293, aims to promote innovation as a driver of national development and sustainable economic growth.
This year’s theme, “AGOS ASEAN: Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Growth, Opportunity, and Sustainability in ASEAN,” highlights the Philippines’ role as ASEAN chair. The celebration will:
- Recognize outstanding innovators across Southeast Asia
- Promote collaboration among government, industry, academe, and startups
- Strengthen public support for innovation
- Showcase AI-enabled solutions in food and agribusiness, health, education, and climate change mitigation
The National Innovation Council, in coordination with the DOST, DTI, DepEd, CHED, and TESDA, will lead the planning and implementation of the event.
The emphasis on AI underscores its growing role in improving public services, driving industry transformation, and addressing societal challenges, positioning innovation as central to both national and regional growth.
