A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck parts of Mindanao, particularly Sarangani and Davao Occidental, on the evening of Sabado de Gloria (Black Saturday), April 4, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The tremor occurred at 6:34 p.m., with its epicenter located 59 kilometers southeast of Sarangani Island at a depth of 10 kilometers.

PHIVOLCS said aftershocks are expected following the earthquake, but no damage is anticipated.
