KARL ELDREW YULO ADVANCES TO FLOOR EXERCISE FINAL IN CAIRO WORLD CUP

Filipino gymnast Karl Eldrew Yulo secured a spot in the floor exercise final of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series Cairo Leg on Saturday (Philippine time).

The 18-year-old rising star finished fifth in the qualifiers, scoring 13.900 points with a 5.400 difficulty score and 8.500 in execution. He will now face a strong lineup led by Russian Arsenii Dukhno, who topped the qualifiers with 14.533 points.

Other finalists include Colombia’s Camilo Vera (14.133), Daniel Marinov (14.000), Norway’s Sebastian Sponevik (13.933), Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medalist Rayderley Zapata (13.800), Li Hongyan of China (13.733), and Kazakhstan’s Altnykhan Temirbek (13.600).

Yulo, the younger brother of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, aims to replicate his gold medal performance in the Antalya Leg in Turkey last March 14.

The Cairo final marks his fourth appearance as a senior gymnast in the World Cup series.
