President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has not yet made a decision on whether to approve the proposed Bayanihan 3 Act, which Congress is drafting to ease the burden of high fuel prices on Filipinos.
Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Monday that Malacañang is waiting for the Senate and House of Representatives to finalize their versions of the measure before the President can study its details.
“Kailangan po makikita natin kung ano yung pinaka-detalye ng bill at lahat po ng maaaring makatulong sa ating mga kababayan, iyan naman ay tutugunan at sasang-ayunan ng ating Pangulo,” Castro explained.
The proposed Bayanihan 3 is patterned after the emergency law passed during the COVID-19 pandemic, which granted special powers to the President and funded amelioration programs, including temporary suspension of loan payments to banks and private firms.
Castro emphasized that the Palace wants to review the bill as soon as possible to determine its potential benefits and ensure swift implementation if approved.
