DOE ASSURES STABLE FUEL SUPPLY WITH 50-DAY INVENTORY BUFFER

Fuel inventories across the Philippines remain at healthy levels, averaging about 50 days’ worth of supply, according to Energy Secretary Sharon Garin.

Speaking during an online briefing on Tuesday, Garin assured the public that there is no immediate risk of shortages, emphasizing that current reserves provide ample time for replenishment.

“It’s not like we won’t have any more supply after May or at the end of May. It basically means, we have 50 days to replenish what we consume,” Garin told reporters.

Data from the Department of Energy (DOE) as of April 3 showed gasoline stocks could last up to 57 days, diesel inventories at 47 days, and kerosene with a longer buffer at 106 days. Jet fuel was projected to last 66 days, while fuel oil stood at around 52 days.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) recorded the lowest supply among the listed products, with an estimated 33-day inventory. Despite this, Garin said the DOE is actively coordinating with industry players to consolidate orders and maintain sufficient buffer stocks.

The latest figures showed little change from the previous week, indicating a steady supply situation. Garin reiterated that maintaining around 50 days of inventory is “more than enough” to allow continuous replenishment and avoid disruptions in the country’s fuel supply.
