PSA REPORTS 5.1% UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IN FEBRUARY 2026

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) recorded a 5.1 percent unemployment rate in February 2026, lower than the 5.8 percent posted in January but higher than the 3.8 percent reported in the same month last year.

In a separate release, the PSA said the country’s employment rate stood at 94.9 percent in February, slightly up from 94.2 percent in January but still below the 96.2 percent recorded in February 2025.

The 5.1 percent unemployment rate translates to about 2.66 million Filipinos without jobs, while 49.43 million were employed during the period.

Data also showed that wage and salary workers remained the largest group in the labor force, accounting for 63.8 percent.

This was followed by self-employed individuals without paid employees at 27.4 percent, unpaid family workers at 6.8 percent, and those working in family-operated farms or businesses at 2.0 percent.
