The House of Representatives of the Philippines is set to proceed with its impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte, following court approval for the appearance of her alleged bagman, Ramil Madriaga.
In an order issued by Presiding Judge Alma Crispina Collado-Lacorte of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 21, Madriaga—who is currently detained—was authorized to attend the House Committee on Justice hearing scheduled for April 14.
“Accused Ramil Madriaga y Lagonoy is hereby allowed to appear before the committee on justice… on April 14, 2026 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with proper jail escorts,” the order stated.
The court also directed the jail warden of MMDJ Annex 2 to submit a compliance report within five days.
The approval followed a formal request from House Speaker Faustino Dy III and Batangas 2nd District Representative Gerville Luistro, chairperson of the House Committee on Justice.
Bicol Saro Party-list Representative Terry Ridon confirmed the development, saying there are no longer any obstacles to Madriaga’s testimony.
Lawmakers expect him to provide details on how the Vice President’s confidential funds were allegedly distributed, which forms part of the impeachment case.
