HOUSE PANEL TO PROCEED WITH VP SARA IMPEACHMENT HEARINGS, RIDON SAYS

Bicol Saro Party-list Representative Terry Ridon said the House Committee on Justice will proceed with impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, stressing that no legal order has been issued to halt the process.

In an interview, Ridon clarified that the Supreme Court of the Philippines has not issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO).

“Ang kailangang linawin dito, walang TRO na ibinigay ang Korte Suprema. Ibig sabihin niyan, tuloy ang pagdinig sa April 14,” he said.

The lawmaker added that key documents and testimonies will be presented during the hearing, including that of Ramil Madriaga.

“Lahat ng mga dokumento, lahat ng mga testimonya, partikular kay Mr. (Ramil) Madriaga, ay maisasalang, mailalatag sa April 14. From 8AM to 5PM ‘yung pagkakasalang ni Madriaga sa House,” Ridon noted.

Earlier, the Supreme Court directed the House to respond within 10 days to the petition filed by Duterte but did not bar the Committee on Justice from holding its scheduled proceedings.

The April 14 session is expected to be a critical step in determining whether probable cause exists to elevate the impeachment case to the Senate for trial.
