TRUMP WARNS IRAN OVER ALLEGED TOLLS IN STRAIT OF HORMUZ

U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday issued a strong warning to Iran following reports that Tehran had agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz under a two-week ceasefire, but was allegedly imposing fees on commercial vessels transiting the route.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said:

“There are reports that Iran is charging fees to tankers going through the Hormuz Strait — They better not be and, if they are, they better stop now!”

Minutes later, he posted another message, signaling confidence in continued oil movement:

“Very quickly, you’ll see Oil start flowing, with or without the help of Iran.”

Trump further criticized Tehran’s handling of the situation, stating that it was “doing a very poor job, dishonorable some would say, of allowing Oil to go through the Strait of Hormuz,” adding:

“That is not the agreement we have!”

The remarks come amid increased monitoring of maritime activity in the region. Shipping data reviewed on Thursday indicated that only 10 vessels had passed through the key waterway since the ceasefire took effect.

The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world’s most vital oil shipping corridors, making any disruption or policy shift a major concern for global energy markets.
