DOTr WARNS OF NIGHT-TIME TRAFFIC SLOWDOWNS DUE TO MMSP TUNNEL MACHINE TRANSFER

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has advised motorists in Metro Manila to prepare for potential traffic congestion as construction activities for the Metro Manila Subway Project continue.

In an advisory released on Friday, April 10, the DOTr said slow-moving traffic is expected from April 10 to April 13, between 11:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., due to the transport of a tunnel boring machine (TBM) from Manila Harbor Center to Tandang Sora Station.

“Motorists may experience traffic slowdown on some roads of Metro Manila… The TBM will be used in the construction of the tunnels that shall connect MMSP’s Tandang Sora Station and Quirino Highway Station,” the agency said.

Authorities urged the public to plan ahead and use alternative routes to avoid congestion during the scheduled transport operations.

The DOTr also appealed for patience and cooperation, saying,

“Motorists are advised to take alternate routes. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.”

The Metro Manila Subway Project remains one of the government’s flagship infrastructure programs aimed at reducing chronic traffic congestion and improving mass transit connectivity in the capital region.
