Rising Filipino actress-singer Ashtine Olviga is gaining international recognition as her short film Memorare has been selected for the Main Program of the prestigious Sehsüchte International Student Film Festival in Germany.
In the haunting short, Olviga portrays Maia, a devout follower of the Virgin Mary whose deep faith takes a dark and unsettling turn. She stars alongside Mina Cruz and Jewel Milag, with direction by Pia Velonza.
Sehsüchte, Europe’s largest international student film festival, is organized annually by students of the Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF in Potsdam-Babelsberg, Germany. Its 55th edition runs from April 22 to 26, 2026, featuring over 100 films across fiction, documentary, animation, and VR categories.
The world premiere of Memorare is scheduled for April 23, 2026, in Potsdam.
This milestone adds to Olviga’s growing list of achievements. She earned a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival for Manila’s Finest and won Breakthrough Actress at the Tit for Tat Pinoy Film Awards 2026 for her leading role in Minamahal opposite Andres Muhlach, forming the popular AshDres loveteam.
Her selection at Sehsüchte underscores the rising global appeal of Filipino independent cinema and cements her status as one of the most promising talents of her generation.
