In celebration of Solo Parents Week and in line with the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) is offering free rides to registered solo parents.
According to an advisory, the program began on Wednesday, April 15, and will run until Saturday, April 18. Eligible passengers may avail of the benefit during peak hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., across all MRT-3 stations.
To qualify, solo parents must present a valid Solo Parent ID at any station.
The MRT-3 management said the initiative recognizes the vital role of solo parents in society and their contributions to their families and communities.
“Bilang pakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng Solo Parents Week ngayong taon, handog ng DOTr-MRT3 ang libreng sakay para sa lahat ng rehistradong solo parents mula ika-15 hanggang ika-18 ng Abril,” the MRT-3 said.
“Ang inisyatibong ito ay alinsunod sa Republic Act No. 11861 o ang Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act, na layong kilalanin at suportahan ang mahalagang papel ng mga solo parent sa ating lipunan. Isang maliit na hakbang ng pasasalamat para sa inyong walang kapantay na sakripisyo at pagmamahal,” it added.
