President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos joined hundreds of Catholic faithful on Wednesday, April 22, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the canonical coronation of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag.
The celebration, held at the Minor Basilica in Pangasinan, marked a century since the image was officially recognized by the Vatican for its significance to the Filipino people.
During the commemorative mass, the President offered a solemn prayer, seeking a spiritual renewal for those in government service.
”May this celebration deepen our bond as a people whom you have called in this blessed place of Manaoag, and renew our commitment to serve you and our neighbors with love and compassion,” the President prayed.
Marcos highlighted the historical importance of the 1926 coronation, describing it as a testament to the “unwavering maternal care” of the Virgin Mary.
He noted that the milestone serves as a reminder of her protection over the province and the nation.
”We honor Our Lady Inang Maria, our mother crowned in glory, who always leads us closer to you. Her unwavering faith encourages us to trust divine providence, and her profound humility calls us to walk the path of holiness in the footsteps of your only begotten son and her beloved son, Jesus, our savior,” he added.
The Chief Executive concluded his prayer by asking for the grace to emulate the virtues of the patroness, describing her as a “beacon of light” for Filipinos navigating modern trials.
