PBBM DISTRIBUTES RICE AID TO FARMERS AND VULNERABLE GROUPS IN CAPIZ

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. spearheaded the expansion of the administration’s national relief initiative in Western Visayas on Monday, personally overseeing the distribution of rice assistance to hundreds of residents in Capiz.

The mission, aimed at mitigating the localized effects of global inflation and rising commodity prices, provided 10-kilogram sacks of rice to 500 pre-selected beneficiaries. The distribution underscored a strategic focus on the agricultural sector, with farmers making up the majority of the recipients.

Specifically, 300 farmers from various local barangays received aid, while the remaining 200 slots were allocated to solo parents and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

This regional rollout is funded through the Local Government Support Fund, under a policy that empowers local government units to utilize up to 100% of these allocations for food security programs.

The President was joined by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and former Senator Mar Roxas, signaling a unified front in addressing the economic challenges facing the province.

Following previous distribution legs in Manila and Nueva Ecija, the activity in Roxas City is part of a broader, multi-phase roadmap intended to provide a consistent safety net for Filipinos struggling with the high costs of fuel and food throughout the year.
