WILLIE REVILLAME TO RELAUNCH ‘WOWOWIN’ AS ‘WILYONARYO’ EXITS TELEVISION

Veteran television host and producer Willie Revillame has officially announced the revival of his long-running hit game show, “Wowowin,” following the conclusion of his current program, “Wilyonaryo.”

During the April 27 broadcast of “Wilyonaryo,” Revillame revealed that the show’s final television airing is scheduled for May 15.

The decision stems from a strategic shift to focus on the program’s digital gambling components rather than traditional broadcasting.

“Hanggang May 15 na lang po ang programang ‘Wilyonaryo.’ Magpapaalam na kami… Kasi ho magko-concentrate na ang ‘Wilyonaryo’ sa online gaming,” Revillame shared during his opening monologue.

Since its launch on January 25, “Wilyonaryo” faced significant hurdles. Originally intended for a wider release, it was moved to WilTV via Cignal to navigate strict free-to-air regulations regarding gambling content.

Revillame candidly admitted that the format made it difficult to attract mainstream advertisers, leading to unsustainable production costs.

“Lahat ng business, hindi naman puwedeng paubos ka nang paubos ng pera. Kailangan mayroon ka ring [kita],” he explained.

While the “Wilyonaryo” brand will persist in the digital space, Revillame is returning to his roots with the comeback of “Wowowin.”

The host teased a fresh start for the beloved variety show, noting that it will occupy a brand-new studio he recently acquired.

The revival is expected to hit airwaves as early as May on a weekday schedule. While specific networks and time slots remain under wraps, Revillame expressed his gratitude to his loyal fanbase and asked for their continued patience.

“Bigyan niyo lang kami ng ilang pagkakataon… ilang panahon, at magsasama-sama tayo ulit,” he told his audience.

The return of “Wowowin” signals Revillame’s latest effort to reclaim his dominant position in the variety show landscape, leaning on the familiar blend of community service and high-stakes giveaways that defined his career across multiple networks.
