The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has intensified its relief efforts for the transport sector, recently releasing ₱447,000 in fuel subsidies to 14 public utility bus operators throughout the Ilocos Region.
This latest disbursement is part of a broader push to finalize all remaining payouts by the end of next week.
LTFRB Chairperson Vigor Mendoza II personally oversaw the turnover during a meeting with regional operators on Monday, emphasizing that these funds are designated for immediate distribution to bus drivers.
Beyond the Ilocos Region, Mendoza also traveled to the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) to coordinate with representatives from the jeepney, taxi, bus, and TNVS sectors.
During these consultations, the Chairperson clarified the mechanics for the ₱5,000 subsidy and the application of the ₱10 per liter fuel discount.
To bypass previous delays, the agency is now issuing checks directly to transport service entities, a strategy proven successful in Mimaropa, which allows organizations to credit their members more rapidly.
“We intend to finish the distribution of the fuel subsidy by next week. That is why we are implementing measures to expedite the distribution process,” Mendoza stated.
The LTFRB head expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of various transport groups in streamlining the logistical hurdles of the program.
“We are exhausting all measures for fast downloading of funds to the intended beneficiaries. That’s why we are expressing gratitude to the transport groups and transport service entities for their cooperation,” Mendoza said.
Mendoza remains on a regional circuit to personally monitor the rollout, reiterating the agency’s commitment to providing timely financial relief to drivers struggling with high fuel costs.
“Be rest assured that finishing the distribution of the fuel subsidy will always be the top priority. This is the reason why I am now conducting regional visits to supervise the fast distribution,” he added.
