VOICE OF THE YOUTH RETURNS: YSPEAK 2.0 SET TO PREMIERE THIS MAY 9

After more than a decade since its final episode, the groundbreaking youth talk show that defined a generation is making a highly anticipated comeback.

YSpeak 2.0 is officially scheduled to return to the airwaves starting May 9, occupying the Saturday late-night slot at 10:45 PM.

The reboot will be accessible to viewers across multiple platforms, including Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, iWantTFC, and ABS-CBN sa ALLTV2.

THE NEW VOICES OF GEN Z

Leading the charge for the 2.0 era is a dynamic group of young personalities chosen to represent the diverse perspectives of today’s youth. The new lineup features:

  • Elijah Canlas (Award-winning actor)
  • KD Estrada (Kapamilya singer and actor)
  • Aya Fernandez (Host and advocate)
  • River Joseph (Rising talent)
  • Ralph de Leon (Former PBB housemate)
  • Robbie Jaworski (Youth leader)

To prepare for the revival, the group underwent rigorous workshops mentored by industry veterans including Ryan Agoncillo, Bianca Gonzalez, Karen Davila, and Luchi Cruz-Valdes. Veteran journalist and advocate Gretchen Ho, who also served as a mentor, shared her excitement for the new breed of hosts:

“Sa panahon ngayon, napakadaling mag-post at magsalita tungkol sa mga isyu. Pero mas mahirap hanapin ang katotohanan at makita ito mula sa iba’t ibang punto de bista. Excited to watch and hear you all as you represent the voice of this generation’s youth.”

A LEGACY OF DISCOURSE

The original YSpeak first premiered on September 8, 2004, on Studio 23. It became a staple of Philippine television by providing a platform for students and young professionals to debate hot-button social and political issues.

Over its initial six-year run until 2010, the show was hosted by notable figures such as Ryan Agoncillo, Karen Davila, and Bianca Gonzalez. It earned numerous accolades, including the CMMA Best TV Talk Show and the Anak TV Seal, for its commitment to constructive dialogue and civic education.

YSPEAK 2.0: WHAT TO EXPECT

Spearheaded by Fr. Tito Caluag and in partnership with Caritas Philippines, YSpeak 2.0 aims to serve as a “civics program” for the modern age.

While it retains the core DNA of the original—healthy debate and youth empowerment—the new season will adapt to the digital landscape, tackling issues ranging from social media accountability to climate action and national identity.

As the show returns this May, it seeks to prove once again that the youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but the most crucial voices of today.
