DONBELLE TAKES A BOLD LEAP INTO MORE MATURE TERRITORY IN “TAYO SA WAKAS”

Star Cinema has officially released the full trailer for the highly anticipated romance drama Tayo Sa Wakas, starring the phenomenal love team of Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano.

During a poignant media conference held in Quezon City on Saturday, May 2, the duo—collectively known as “DonBelle”—confirmed that this film will serve as their final project together for now as they pursue individual growth.

Directed by the legendary Cathy Garcia-Sampana and written by Vanessa Valdez, Tayo Sa Wakas follows the story of Cisco (Pangilinan) and Cheska (Mariano), a long-term couple who embark on a “breakup trip” to decide whether their relationship is worth fighting for or if it is time to finally part ways.

The media conference took an emotional turn when both actors expressed their deep gratitude for their five-year journey together, which began with the hit series He’s Into Her.

“I am so grateful and so blessed I got to spend these last years with you. I would not have it any other day. Thank you,” Pangilinan said, addressing Mariano directly.

Pangilinan further remarked on the evolution he has witnessed in his partner, stating:

“If they ask anyone here, I have really seen you grow since we met. I will always look up to you figuratively.”

Mariano, visibly moved, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the mutual respect that has defined their partnership through multiple blockbusters and series.

“I respect you so much. Ngayon pa lang malayo ka na, pero malayo ka pa. I am so proud of the man you are now,” she noted.

The decision to put the love team on an indefinite hold was described as a mutual choice aimed at professional maturity. Both stars admitted that while the move is daunting, they believe it is the necessary next step for their careers as actors.

“It was a mutual decision, and that’s why this project required so much growth for him and [me]. And the time apart I feel like would allow us to grow, actually find what we want, find who we are, and come back as better people,” Mariano explained.

Pangilinan reassured their massive fanbase that despite the professional hiatus, their bond remains intact.

“We may not be working with each other in the near future, but I will always be here,” he explained.

Tayo Sa Wakas is set to premiere exclusively in cinemas nationwide on May 27, 2026. The film is being touted as a “multiverse” experience, paying homage to the various characters the pair has portrayed throughout their career before settling into this more mature, grounded narrative.
