La Union’s Bea Millan-Windorski captured the prestigious Miss Universe Philippines 2026 title during a grand coronation night held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Saturday, May 2.
The Filipino-American beauty bested 49 other delegates to earn the right to represent the Philippines at the 75th Miss Universe pageant in San Juan, Puerto Rico, this November.
Millan-Windorski was crowned by her predecessor, Ahtisa Manalo, who finished as the third runner-up in the previous Miss Universe edition. The outgoing queen opened the show with an emotional message to the crowd and her fellow candidates.
“In this stage, a new Filipina [is going] to conquer the universe!” Manalo proclaimed during the opening segment.
The final question-and-answer portion proved to be the decisive moment for Millan-Windorski. When asked why it remains worthwhile to represent the Philippines on the global stage despite the frustrations many Filipinos feel regarding the country’s current situation, she delivered a heartfelt response that resonated with the judges and the audience alike.
The competition saw a strong field of contenders, with Jenrose Javier of Sultan Kudarat and pageant veteran Nicole Borromeo of Cebu Province also placing in the Top 7. Other standout finalists included Taguig’s Ysabella Ysmael and Baguio’s Roxie Baeyens.
Before the final results were announced, Ysmael shared the sentiment of the candidates regarding the culmination of their journey.
“I am really excited to see everybody because we’ve worked so hard. This is finally the fruits of our labor, the results of all our blood, sweat, and tears,” Ysmael noted.
The 2026 edition of the pageant featured several historic firsts, including the hosting debut of international drag superstar Marina Summers, who transitioned from being a performer in previous years to leading the evening’s festivities. The event also featured a special appearance by Miss Universe (Asiana) Vice President Nawat Itsaragrisil and performances by the P-pop group BGYO.
With her victory, Millan-Windorski now carries the responsibility of continuing the Philippines’ streak of excellence in the international arena.
As she prepares for the global stage in Puerto Rico, the new queen expressed her readiness to embrace the challenges ahead and represent the Filipino spirit with pride.
