VP SARA DECLARES PRESUMPTIVE CANDIDACY FOR 2028 PRESIDENCY FROM THE HAGUE

Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday expressed her hopes for a credible and orderly electoral process in the upcoming 2028 national polls, while officially identifying herself as a presumptive contender for the nation’s highest office.

Speaking to members of the press in The Hague, Netherlands, following a personal visit to her detained father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, the Vice President emphasized that national focus should pivot toward securing a clean voting process.

“We can only pray that there will be a presidential election in 2028 and it will be honest, orderly, and peaceful,” Duterte said.

When questioned by reporters regarding her readiness to lead the executive branch, Duterte referenced her prior public declarations to cement her current political status.

“I’m already a presumptive candidate because I declared my intention to run for the next presidential elections,” Duterte stated.

Despite the intense political maneuvering in Manila and the ongoing impeachment proceedings against her, the latest voter preference survey conducted by Pulse Asia reveals that Duterte maintains her frontrunner status at 43%.

However, the polling indicates a narrowing gap, with former Vice President and current Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo holding second place at 27%, and Senator Raffy Tulfo securing third place at 19%.
