Veteran talent manager Johnny Manahan has finally addressed the reasons behind his departure from GMA Network and his subsequent return to TV5.
Manahan, widely known in the entertainment industry as Mr. M, clarified the matter during a press conference held for the rebranding of the Kapatid Network’s talent agency, now called “Star Worx,” which coincided with the launch of its initial batch of artists.
”I had a contract with [GMA] for three years… and for the most part, they treated me very well. I got along with the executives there,” Manahan clarified the press conference.
He further explained that his time with the Kapuso network had naturally run its course.
”But after three years, they probably thought, and for a good reason, that they could handle things. They just wanted to find out if I could teach them something or deliver something already in addition to what they have there. Siguro, tapos na ‘yun.”
Manahan originally moved to the Kapuso Network in 2021 following the franchise non-renewal of ABS-CBN Corporation, where he spent nearly three decades founding and leading its premier talent arm, Star Magic. He then served as a consultant for GMA’s Sparkle from 2021 until 2025 before exiting the Gozon-led media giant to sign with TV5 last year.
