PHILHEALTH RECOVERS ₱60B FROM NATIONAL TREASURY

The National Treasury has officially remitted a total of ₱60 billion back to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) following an order from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

In a statement released Wednesday, the state health insurer expressed its appreciation to the President for directing the fund’s return, which is earmarked to upgrade healthcare services and expand its reach to more Filipinos.

PhilHealth also recognized the Department of Finance for swiftly facilitating the transfer, while promising to uphold the confidence placed in the agency by both the administration and the public.

The returned billions are slated to fortify PhilHealth’s ongoing initiatives, specifically in broadening medical benefit packages and upgrading administrative workflows for more efficient nationwide operations.

The President previously noted that his directive to return the money, which he first declared in September last year, aligns with the administration’s core commitment to reinforcing the nation’s healthcare infrastructure.
