The House of Representatives officially circulated Committee Report No. 261 and the formal articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday, clearing the path for a high-stakes plenary vote scheduled for next week.
During the session, Sorsogon 1st District Representative Dette Escudero confirmed that the resolution has been formally integrated into the chamber’s calendar of business.
Escudero moved for the immediate distribution of the documents to ensure all lawmakers were informed.
“Mr. Speaker, I move to direct the Secretary General to immediately furnish the members electronic copies of Committee Report 261… through their respective registered email addresses, post electronic copies in downloadable form… in the House websites and distribute to the members printed copies,” Escudero said.
Following the motion, which was approved by Zambales 1st District Representative Jay Khonghun, Manila 1st District Representative Ernix Dionisio later confirmed that the Office of the Secretary General had successfully completed the digital and physical distribution to all members.
The committee report outlines four specific grounds for the Vice President’s impeachment:
- The alleged misuse or abuse of confidential funds.
- Unexplained wealth.
- Bribery, graft, and corruption.
- Alleged threats made against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Lawmakers are expected to cast their votes on May 11. Leadership within the House has expressed confidence that they will secure the necessary one-third support of the total membership required to impeach the Vice President and transmit the case to the Senate for a formal trial.
