Vice President Sara Duterte has issued a direct challenge to House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Representative Zaldy Co, urging them to be transparent regarding their alleged involvement in controversial flood control initiatives.
Addressing a crowd of supporters and overseas Filipinos in The Hague, Duterte emphasized that the two lawmakers have a responsibility to the public to be forthcoming if they are genuinely committed to national integrity.
The Vice President further suggested that the public narratives being pushed by Romualdez and Co are inconsistent with the actual facts surrounding the infrastructure projects.
Both Romualdez and Co, who previously chaired the House Committee on Appropriations, have been linked to various allegations concerning anomalies in flood control funding. Both officials have consistently denied any wrongdoing regarding the matter.
