The Sandiganbayan’s Third Division has pushed back the resolution of bail petitions filed by former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and six other individuals for 30 days.
The accused are currently facing malversation of public funds charges involving a ₱92.8-million flood control project located in Pandi, Bulacan.
The court was originally expected to issue its decision on May 6. However, Atty. Dennis Pulma, clerk of court for the Third Division, explained that the sheer scale of the legal documentation necessitated a delay.
“On behalf of the court’s Third Division, please be informed that the court was constrained to request for an extension of time to resolve the accused’s separate petition/s for bail in the case of People of the Philippines vs. Ramon Bautista Bong Revilla, Jr., et al., considering the volume of records generated by the proceedings and the number of transcript of stenographic notes (TSN) containing the witnesses’ extensive testimonies,” he said in a statement released on Friday, May 8.
The court also cited new filings submitted after the final hearing on April 24 as a factor for the extension. These include a bail petition from Jaypee Mendoza on April 27 and a supplemental memorandum from Juanito Mendoza on April 29, 2026.
According to Pulma, the 30-day extension officially commenced on May 7, 2026.
Revilla is charged alongside several former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) personnel and accountants, including Brice Hernandez, Jaypee Mendoza, R.J. Domasig, Emelita Juat, Juanito Mendoza, and Christina Mae Pineda.
