LINO CAYETANO ANNOUNCES THREE MAJOR REFORMS FOR PTV-4

Newly appointed People’s Television (PTV-4) General Manager Lino Cayetano has laid out a trio of key reforms designed to amplify the national public broadcaster’s societal impact and broadcasting range.

In a social media update shared on June 22, the former Taguig City mayor revealed that PTV-4 will revamp its programming to focus heavily on educational, cultural, developmental, and disaster-preparedness broadcasting.

To broaden its audience reach, the network is set to launch new digital terrestrial television (DTT) and digital channels.

Furthermore, Cayetano ordered an immediate evaluation of all existing job positions and staff rosters, clarifying that this inventory will not interfere with the network’s long-postponed Reorganization Plan.

“Together, these orders address content, reach, and institution — strengthening PTV’s direction, expanding its delivery, and building its capacity to serve you, the Filipino people, as a stronger, more sustainable, and more progressive national public broadcaster,” Cayetano stated.

Cayetano takes the helm as the newest general manager of the state network under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration.

He succeeds a rotating lineup of previous leaders, including Malou Choa-Fagar, former Pangasinan Governor Oscar Orbos (who served as Officer-in-Charge), Antonio “Toby” Nebrida, Atty. Robert Doller, Analisa Puod, Julio Castillo Jr., and current PIA Director General Kat de Castro.
